The ACS has many member activities. The Division of Chemical Education (Examinations Institute) provides books on preparing for ACS examinations. The Science of Advanced Materials doctoral program at CMU provides interdisciplinary training for researchers planning careers in academic or industry. Classes are small and students are immediately engaged in research with faculty. Course work focuses on the scientific framework for studying materials and is organized around the key methodologies of modeling, synthesis, and characterization.
